The Eden Project

Published June 19, 2018 by theycallmemrstibbs

We’ve been hearing so much about The Eden Project since before we even moved to Exeter.

We thought we are near enough to it so we need to go.

We obviously had to walk down from the car park which was quite a distance away but it just warmed us up for a day of trecking.

So we let the adventure begin.

You can imagine my excitement if you know me. All the plants and little animals.

It really is beautiful.

The only issue was people kept walking in my photos, damn them. Lol (only joking they can’t help it).

Chris going back to his childhood obviously I’d recommend anyone in the area sound go to the Eden Project.

The only let down was that we were too early to smell the Corpse Flower. Maybe it helped me not be sick. Lol.

It was warm but not as hot as California obviously. But it gave me a California feeling. Which obviously made me miss it more.

Snow days

Published March 26, 2018 by theycallmemrstibbs

Yes, that’s right we actually got snow here in Exeter.

It actually surprised us as we thought we aren’t in the north, we shouldn’t get the same amount.

This was due to different expectations and things we’d heard. Oh were we wrong.

This was our building back door.

Then view from our front room.

We then got frozen rain, which ended up just being sheets of ice.

We then went for a little walk to the end of the cul de sac, I sank and slid all over the place. Due to buses being cancelled in our area I obviously couldn’t get into work.

The buses did start running 2 days later which was good because I had the Tuesday off of work.

Two weeks later we got the not required encore.

Luckily it wasn’t as bad and I didn’t have to take any time off work.

A Cornish “Adventure”

Published February 13, 2018 by theycallmemrstibbs

Sorry I’ve been so quiet, I’ve been busy with work.

We decided we should go over the border to Cornwall. It’s actually not a long drive.

There is the great bridge, the Tamar bridge, to pass over to get there but it was the view that Christopher wanted to show me. However the weather didn’t want me to see it. But it’s ok I can go another time.

When we crossed the bridge and parked in Saltash and we for a little wander just to say we’d been there. We saw this view of the rail bridge.

Then the motor bridge. As you can guess the vieweven though it was little that we could see was great.

So we walked up the hill into Saltash. Did I mention it is quite hilly here? But I manage considering how flat the Netherlands were. Oh I miss that. Never mind life goes on. Wow that just John Mellencamp in my head. Any way back to my post.

Saltash was very quaint and cute. But we were hungry so we went on a find food mission.

We wandered more and more then we were going back to the car we saw a little cafè, no brand or anything. So we decided when in Cornwall get a pasty.

This is what I bought a bacon, cheese and potato pasty. Oh wow it was great! Christopher just had a sausage roll but also good as they were freshly baked. We even ate the salad.

There’s only so much not a lot you can do. So we came back to Exeter we had to pay £1.50 to come back Devon. We didn’t mind though.

The next day we decided to go on a smaller adventure into Exeter in our new baby, A.K.A. our car.

When we first moved here we wanted to park on a certain car park near a shopping centre called the Harlequin Shopping Centre. However, we couldn’t find how to get into it. So we researched it this time and found out how to do it.

We found the best art work there too.

We found it very relevant with the harlequins.

You should come and see it.

Sorry I’ve been quiet.

Sorry I’ve been so quiet for a while. I think it’s the whole getting used to a new place.

But I’m used to it now, we will be going on days out soon, I hope.

I got a job at Sitel doing customer services for John Lewis. Nerves isn’t the word.

But I’ll soon find out how it goes.

Hopefully more fulfilling posts soon.

Chapter 3 – A new start in Exeter, Devon.

Published October 23, 2017 by theycallmemrstibbs

That’s right we’ve started all over again in a new place.

Christopher got a new job at Exeter university as a Research Data Officer.

That sounds so important and it is.

Any way we left the Netherlands on September 27th and went back to my parent’s to pack all of our things up.
That was so stressful remembering where we left everything. Were they at my parents house, Christopher’s parent’s? Or Auntie Audrey’s house? But we found everything.

Easier than we thought.

We then just had to hire the van then make the journey from my parents in Lancashire down to Devon. A long way yes. Well 5 hours to precise.

So we packed the van and my mum’s car on the Friday night.

The time came of 4.30am and it was get up time.

We got up, had tea in good old Tibbs style and got in the vehicles.

The journey was going really well until Birmingham and we had to go through road works.

After the road works the car system said there was an error. So we went to the nearest service station. My dad checked over the car and found a puncture.

From that we did a search for the nearest garage and called them to check if they had the tyre in. They didn’t but they gave us another garage that might, luckily they did. So we went on our way out of the way to get the tyre fitted.

We carried on our way to the new flat.

We got there later than anticipated but still there.

We in unpacked the van and car them decided to go out for dinner.

I know this was lots of typing and we’ve been here for 3 weeks but it’s here now.

7th Anniversary weekend.

Some of you may be aware I had been collecting coupons to get the offer of buy one three course and get a second free from Albert Heijn. I got this last year and was really hoping I would get the chance to have this again.

So obviously when the opportunity came up to get them again I changed my shopping habits and did half of the shop there instead.

When I got them we looked through the website to see where we could go. There was a large selection but we decided as we had been to the ones in Leiden that were included we would go to The Hague.

We decided we would go for a curry based on reviews. We thought we should go to Indian Bay Dreams. It sounded great and had seen great reviews.

Christopher had heard that the beach in The Hague was really good, so we decided we should go for a walk before meal.

We worked it out that we would as normal get the train to The Hague then the tram to the coast.

The beach was breathtaking.

We are going to try and go again as the sand looked so clean.

I was impressed there was an old tram there.

We decided after going for a small walk around the shops and realise that they were way better there than Leiden.

So we went to the restaurant a little early but they were fine with that.

The restaurant was really nice.

We were given the menu even though we had already thought of what we wanted.

Firstly we were given poppadoms with three dips, which were fantastic. Then we got our starters, I got mixed Pakoras and Christopher got Chicken tikka bites. But they looked so good I forgot to take a picture of them, but the bottom picture was when I remembered to take it.

For our main course we decided to get butter chicken and chicken korma with a garlic naan.

The food was amazing. I know I say that a lot but it really was.

Our desserts came even though we were very full. Christopher got vanilla ice cream and I got gulab jamun as my friend Anwara from an old job used to make them.
