We decided we should go to a museum, or an educational day out.
We had heard a lot about La Brea Tar Pits when we lived in Pasadena 2011-2014. However, we never actually went.
We decided our trip back was a good enough reason to go.
We got there and the smell was great, it
smelt like road tar but it was asphalt.
Above it’s bubbling.
We found out that it had been discovered when a company was looking for oil in Los Angeles weken they drilled they found many skeletons from roughly 40-10,000 years ago.
I was amazed at the time period as I always thought of Mastodons as being the same age as dinosaurs. But they weren’t.
After we’d been on a majority of the tour our lovely guide took us to the original area where they had been taking tourists to prior to the other Pits being opened.
You could still see an animal skull.
We had a great day and is recommend anyone goes to it.
We decided we needed to hire a car before we came. Christopher made the order.
So we went down to Enterprise to get it.
Today was more of a practice drive, as he hasn’t driven for 18 months.
So I left it up to Christopher where we were going.
On the way we decided we should go to The Fork In The Road, which is an actual fork in the road.
I’d known about it for years and I thought we should go to see it.
It was so cool.
We ended up driving down Hollywood Boulevarde and back home on Sunset Strip.
On Hollywood Boulevarde we saw a surprising thing happening. Two guys kicking a car whilst it sat at the traffic lights. We acted like we hadn’t seen anything. We drove off as quickly as we could.
When we got back to the hotel we decided we should decide where to eat.
We decided on The Cheesecake Factory
Before going to eat we drive down to Old Town Pasadena for a little walk.
I was surprised when when Christopher decided I should go to Forever 21. It worked out good as I got myself 2 new skirts for 4.99 each.
After the little shopping trip we got to the Cheesecake Factory. The food was nice enough. Of course we got cheesecake fit later in the day.
It all started at 5am in Leiden. We got up, showered and had breakfast.
We got up to the train station to get to Schiphol airport at 6.30am. Excited wasn’t the word.
The flight went well, with KLM, apart from the movies we were watching kept stopping and then we couldn’t restart them.
Then 10 and a half hours later we were finally landing at LAX!
We got through security well with after queuing for over an hour. A nice TSA agent did our security check and told me I’m very photogenic. I was very happy. He also wanted to pinch Christopher for a few hours after his organisation skills, he got people going to the right queue.
From there we obviously went to declare nothing.
Then got the super shuttle through downtown LA to the hotel.
The shuttle dropped us off at the Hotel the Vagabond Inn. We’d heard a lot of good stuff about it.
Including huge beds.
After this we got changed in to more summery clothes and headed out for Starbucks due to Frappe hour. Then got food.
We also went to the bank and one of the workers remembered me.
Then we went to Walgreens where one of the girls I spoke to ran after me surprised. I told her I was shocked she remembered me she said why wouldn’t I?
We decided as we’d be up for 24 hours we needed bed.
Sorry I haven’t done a blog post in a few weeks. We have been getting organised for going on holiday.
We are going back to Pasadena for 12 days. Needless to say we’re getting excited.
I will be doing blog posts after our days out there. So that should make up for it.
After we’ve been there we will going to visit my parents due to my mum’s 60th birthday party.
You’ll be getting lots of posts so don’t worry.
