Day out with the Expat Republic

Published June 5, 2015 by theycallmemrstibbs

It got to that time of the month again for me to go out for breakfast/lunch with the Expat Republic, I joined the group through MeetUp. Last time there weren’t very many of us, but I thought I’d go again.
The event started at Oudt Leyden which is a traditional dutch pancake house. When I got there no one was there and then Shauna turned up, I just happened the turn around and said “expats” she said she was there for the meet up. I was happy I want the only one,  but I was first again.
Shauna is British so we already had something in common. We got shown to pye table there was meant to be 14 of us. After a little chatting Karen then turned up also British. So we were very happy.
When the group leader, Karim,  turned up there was only 4 of us so we decided to move it outside to sit. When we did this Mariella who I had previously met arrived with 2 friends.
We got chatting between us when Ross turned up. He was also British so as a nationality we out numbered others.
We ordered our food,  and I actually ordered mine in dutch. I was impressed.
I got pineapple and cheese, an odd combination I know,  but I was intrigued.

Obviously I still put syrup on it.

After chatting more and eating it all here are the results.

An empty huge plate.
It was really tasty.

We had agreed that we would go to the Japanese Market at 2 but we finished eating at 1. So Karim sent a message to the group saying we would be at the market if anyone else was coming.

We went on a wander there and stayed going around but wow was it busy.

Behind me

I’m front of me.

We carried on walking and then saw some girls dressed as manga characters.

So many people were like what? But I got it.

After we went around the market coffee was needed by everyone but me so we went looking for cafés or restaurants where they could get coffee. We ended up back above Harlemarstraat, so I text Christopher asking if he wanted to come meet me. He came down and meet everyone who I had been out with.
Some decided they wanted ice cream and to go to a free concert so we followed the group as we startedbto separate a few of us exchanged numbers so we could meet up.

Some went to the free concert, but we stayed at a bar with Karen and Shauna and had a good long chat. Shauna invited us to a barbecue on the Monday. I contacted her on the Monday but was too cold and cloudy for one.

A great day was had.
