The start of chapter 2.

Yes I got that from our taxi driver from Amsterdam airport.

We arrived on September 29th, this was 2 days prior to Chris starting work.
We had previously been told about October 3, which is basically a huge party over 2 days.

Wikipedia shows “The festival commemorates the anniversary of the 1573–1574 Siege of Leiden, during the Eighty Years’ War, when the Spanish Army attempted to capture the city”

Anyway more on that after.

As you can see there are lots of geese hanging around.

Needless to say this seriously confused us both. I thought it might mean something about a dog. And, it means Dog in the gutter. Again it leads to a WHAAATT?

Yes we had very foggy mornings the first we were here.

Then we got the apartment keys.
Obviously I’m not putting pictures on here.

Any way the party started.

We saw them putting a ferris wheel up near our house, we had been told about this.
We just didn’t know what to expect.

As you can see the wheel went up quickly.

Then I got the chance on October 2 to go for a walk.

Yes the haunted house will have been scary to kids.

We decided we would go to listen to some music on the Friday night. It just so happened to be our favourite type of music, classic 70’s & 80’s rock.

And no your eyes are not playing up on you their trousers are crazy. I’ve seen that type in clothes shops here.

I think it goes to show how efficient the dutch are at street cleaning, on the Saturday, after the big party Friday, the streets were spotless. Wow.
