Our Thanksgiving.

Published December 2, 2013 by theycallmemrstibbs

We decided again this year that we would try to be kind of American and have a Thanksgiving meal. Even though a man at the supermarket told me “but you British you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving” My main thought to that was ” but who were the pilgrims? Oh yea British settlers” But I didn’t say anything.

We decided just to have a small meal, well small in comparison to some other people s meals. We had turkey, potatoes both mashed and roasted, peas, carrots, swede(rutabaga) and parsnip bake and stuffing (paxo of course).

We were good because we didn’t want any waste so we bought a turkey breast because neither of us eat the dark meat.

It was only small but wow did we get a lot of meat from this.

I know this looks like a lot of food but this is small compared to previous years.

We decided we had that much meat left it would be good for left over pie etc.

So I made it and it tasted good and very filling.

Then finally there is dessert, which of course I made our favourite Pavlova.

I added a rolo as we had run out of fruit.

Of course I am thankful for everything I am given, but I am not thankful for the fact that on the day after black Friday, Christopher had to go away for a job interview and I am left eating turkey all alone.

I know this is only short but I’ll try for longer next time.
